Swedish Massage

Massage oil or cream is used with smooth, gliding strokes. Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits. It is a classic massage that will ease your stress and allow you to slip into a calm state of relaxation.

Pre-Natal Massage

Pregnancy massage focuses on addressing the special needs of expecting women. Special bolsters, cushions, and side-lying postures are used to prevent putting pressure on the abdomen. The intent is to be sure the stresses of pregnancy on the body is relieved and client is relaxed.

Thai Massage

Thai massage uses ancient stretching and massage techniques to leave you feeling free and relaxed. Client remains dressed in loose fitting clothing and massage is performed on the floor on a specially designed mat and bolsters.

Sports Massage

Sports massage uses a variety of massage techniques designed to help your body feel freer and stronger. It is particularly great for those with active lifestyles. There may be focus on specific areas based on the sport played by the client or dysfunction the client is experiencing.

Chair Massage

Chair Massage is performed in a specially designed chair with your clothes on. It is excellent for stress relaxation in shoulders or upper back, arms or front of legs. This modality provides a great opportunity for a more open public area such as an office environment, health fair, or other non-private corporate events.

Reiki Massage

Reiki uses a technique commonly called palm or hands on healing.
Through the use of this technique, practitioners transfer universal energy (i.e., reiki) in the form of qi (Japanese: ki) through the palms, which they believe allows for self-healing and a state of equilibrium.

If you have chosen an Out-call service (An out call massage therapy service means that I will travel to you). The massage table folds neatly into a carrying case and I will generally have a back pack or gym bag with me as well. If you choose an In-Call service it means you will travel to one of my locations.

The following is an explanation of what to expect from a Roosen Wellness massage. While massage is tailored by client, the general experience will be the same.

If you have chosen an Out-call service (An out call massage therapy service means that I will travel to you). The massage table folds neatly into a carrying case and I will generally have a back pack or gym bag with me as well. If you choose an In-Call service it means you will travel to one of my locations.

The first meeting will include a general questionnaire of your medical history. There are certain medical conditions that are a contraindication for massage… meaning it is not advised to massage someone with conditions that can be worsened by massage or may require client positioning changes for client’s comfort and health.

As you are completing the form I will be setting up the massage table and associated items used for massage. A typical setup will include massage table, face cradle, fitted sheet, top sheet (or drape), and a face cradle cover. Additionally, I include a small speaker and connect to my phone to play music of your choice during the massage. Typically, I will use non-scented lotion or oil based on client preference.

We will discuss your expectation for the massage and draping for your comfort and safety. I’ll leave to use your sink to wash my hands while you disrobe to your comfort level and get on the massage table and cover with the drape. When ready I will reenter the massage area and start the massage. I will check as needed to be sure the pressure used is appropriate and not uncomfortable for your relaxation.

Generally, we start with you face down (prone position) to work your shoulders, back, arms, legs, feet. Once the back of the body is done, I’ll have you turn over (supine position – face up). As you turn you will remain draped so you are not exposed. The goal is not to expose any area that is covered by a bikini bottom or speedo swimsuit. After turning over I work from feet up to head. I sanitize my hands after feet work. I will finally finish with scalp / face massage. Once the session is over, I will leave the room and wash my hands. At which time you can get up from the table and dress as appropriate. We will have a discussion regarding the massage and I will pack up my table and supplies. I accept cash and major credit cards. I use Square to process credit card transactions. Once the transaction is complete, we can select the next appointment time.

As a general rule, most people will find it beneficial to increase their fluid intake for 24 – 48 hours after a massage to flush toxins released during the massage out of the body. A relaxation massage should not hurt. There may be some discomfort but should be tolerable.

I understand that there are clients that may be uncomfortable with male massage therapist. Know that I have been trained as a massage therapist with the same hours of training as a female massage therapist. I do offer chair massage where the client is fully clothed during the massage if you would like to try my services with little skin to skin contact. Once comfortable with me as a therapist, we can move to a more traditional massage or future massage sessions. If you as the client are still uncomfortable, I have female therapist contacts as a referral. I would prefer you be comfortable as a client and receive the benefits of massage.

There are several reactions that occur during massage. There are two type of reactions that may occur. Often massage will release toxins from the body and elicit the need to urinate or void. If the need to use the restroom occurs, feel free to communicate with me and we can take a break.

Sometimes there are emotional releases in the form of crying or laughing. Know that these are all based on clients’ bodies and are all natural. Emotional releases are ok and we can deal with the result.

Sometimes males have an erection. Males having an erection during massage is a physiological response and not sexual response. Draping is intended to provide comfort and safety for the client.

Most people receive massage for general relaxation. The body is designed to have a time of work or movement during the day and recovery (rest, digestion, and restoration) during the evening. Many report that a sense of relaxation, better sleep, and waking up refreshed. Massage may help with restoration as muscle massage helps to reduce toxins built up in the muscles during work.

Some people are naturally body aware. They will know if something doesn’t “feel right” but can’t determine themselves what is wrong. While massage therapists do not diagnose or replace visits to your health care professional, there are some common muscular and connective tissue issues that can be reduced or eliminated with massage. Often times daily jobs cause muscle strain. Use of computers, mobile devices, and deskwork will impact neck, chest, and shoulder muscles. Sitting all day may cause issues with lower back pain or leg pain.

In order to provide you the best massage value for your money, I am currently focused on providing quality massage in your own space. You can feel comfortable in your own space and not have to drive home after the massage. if you have someone special at home and you’d like to share the massage with your special someone, I have another therapist that is available with advanced notice to make a nice couple’s massage session. Feel free to call for a couple’s appointment. 48 hours advanced notice is requested.
